Norman Virus Control

What is NVC?

Norman Virus Control (NVC) is an anti-virus program that monitors your PC for malicious software, also referred to as malware. Malware is viruses, worms, and other varieties of destructive code. NVC can detect and remove known and unknown viruses from hard disks, floppy disks, e-mail attachments, etc. NVC checks files when they are accessed, and possible viruses are removed automatically. If NVC is unable to clean an infected file, you will receive a warning and instructions how to proceed. You can and we encourage you to do so perform manual scans of selected areas of your machine, and use the task editor and scheduler to define what to scan and when.

Previous versions of NVC have received various international awards for performance in virus detection. The new generation NVC will be even better. In addition to a more attractive and intuitive graphical interface, NVC  provides the functionality and flexibility that enhances NVC's position as a state-of-the-art product in the battle against virus attacks. Even though NVC  is distinctly different from earlier versions, the basic technology is still present. The new version offers improvements and new methods of employing NVC as the tool to ensures a virus free environment.

NVC Features

NVC focuses on the management of software and the cost of ownership. The new version has four central characteristics:

  • Simplified installation
  • Simplified and stronger management tools
  • Invisibility
  • Internet updating

Simplified installation

Rollout in networks is smooth. You simply install NVC on a designated computer (the administrator), select the configuration settings, and identify the workstations where NVC should be installed. Then the "Agent" handles the rest automatically. In a matter of minutes NVC will be installed on the selected computers.

Simplified and stronger management tools

Installation, maintenance and configuration are centralized. From one single point the administrator can administer workstations either as a group or as separate units, depending on the network. You can decide which modules to install or uninstall and define which rights users are granted. The messaging system can be configured in a number of ways, for example broadcasting of virus alarms, and logging of various incidents to file or console. Valuable time is saved for the IT personnel that can be spent on other productive tasks of the company's IT systems.

Invisibility

Users in large networks do not necessarily need to know that an anti-virus program is installed on their computers. The constant presence of an anti-virus program running around-the-clock represents an important assurance in itself. NVC provides this security. Now everything can be directed and managed from one computer.

Improved updating functionality

New viruses are constantly appearing so NVC is continuously being updated in order to provide the very best protection against new threats. Norman Internet Update (NIU) is a fully integrated part of NVC making it possible to update the entire product via the Internet. Administrators can configure NVC to download and distribute updates to all workstations and servers, including employees with a home office.

Viruses will still appear in days to come, and businesses will unfortunately be victimized. The worst hit victims will always be businesses that have not established an adequate level of data security. Be prepared to meet these challenges in a professional way, with a professional partner. We dare to claim that you cannot make a more profitable investment to secure your company against attacks from malicious programs than investing in Norman Virus Control.
